Woolworths has frozen the price on 300 popular items as the impacts of the Middle East war like soaring petrol prices and rising interest rates weigh on household budgets.
The supermarket giant confirmed yesterday it was going to keep the shelf price the same for the selection of products over the next three months to give customers certainty.
“We know many of you are concerned about the impact of fuel prices, interest rates and global uncertainty on your household budget,” chief executive Amanda Bardwell said in an email to customers.

Woolworths said it is also “investing” to absorb costs from farmers and suppliers on products.
“We’re investing to absorb extra costs that are agreed with Aussie farmers and suppliers on these products as a result of the impacts of the Middle East conflict on fuel, fertiliser and production costs, so you won’t have to pay more for these items at the checkout,” Bardwell added.
“The Price Freeze items are in addition to the value provided through thousands of weekly specials, Everyday Rewards, and more than 4000 products on Everyday Low Price and Lower Shelf Price.”
