Guys and Gals,

I thought we should start discussing methods that we try and succeed with on Entrecard to gain advertisers and visitors.  I have already commented on my strategy over at Does Entrecard Work For Me at Andrews On Blogging Australia site.  I am seeing large numbers of traffic coming via Entrecard and a number of those are now turning into valid commenters and visitors.  So as to keep you all here my stategy is:

1. Drop on my fellow Australian bloggers.
2. Drop on my regular acquaintances within the social networking realms.
3. Drop on those that have taken the time to consider and then advertise on my site.
4. Drop on those whom I wish to advertise, or am advertising on.
5. Drop on those that dropped on me.
6. Drop on those that drop on me regularly that are in the top 10 from the details page.
7. Drop on those that I advertised with in the top 10 from the details page.
8. Drop on the new arrivals.
9. Complete drops by dropping on the smaller categories. Those cstegories are often the ones with <20 members and do not attract much attention from the world. As such they are often more than happy to reciprocate.

Yes, at the moment I am chain dropping like mad, and have also begun performing similar drops for Sockos Spot.  Again that is reaping rewards with numerous advertising requests hitting both sites last night from some of the people that we dropped cards upon.

Another tip that I have recently picked up is to thank those that have advertised on your widget.  The reason is that those are the people that have taken the time to evaluate my site and make the decision to advertise on it.  The act of thanking will encourage that client, and that is what they are, to advertise again.  It also opens up another social network opportunity on Entrecard.

Anyways, that is enough of my ideas, anyone got some of their own to share?

I totally agree with the thanking part.  I accepted my first card and got a thankyou email straight away.  I will remember her for next time.  rgrin

Well I thought I would pass on some more information around the thanking people for advertising.  I am as a direct result receiving a new 125 x 125 card from one of the Entrecard community simply from regular drops and thanking them for the advertisement.  The rather kind offer came from TechNet SEO.  I am interested to see what they come up with, but needless to say I would not have received such an offer without making the first approach.

Hi SK,

that sounds like a good outcome - thanking people is a really good idea and is starting to spread amongst the Entrecard community.

I think you've got a good strategy going there, SK. I got my thankyou message from you, and it was a very pleasant surprise - not something you get from most people.

Your experience shows that you can really get something good out of the system if you have the time and inclination to put a lot into it. I imagine the people who drop and run without spending any time on the site are not getting much in return other than a few traffic spikes.

I haven't been dropping much lately (that sounds funny  xtongue) because I haven't had time to really look at the sites. I'd rather do it when I can properly devote time to the system than just game it.

Now I have some strategies - thanks!

What is this Entrecard thing? I've not yet had time to explore it - dropping on people? New terms?  I thought it was some kind of advertising thing and had dismissed it but maybe I need to go do some exploring.

It's a lot of fun Kathiemt. rwink It's basically a card network - you create a card for your site, and you go to other sites and drop your card so people can see you've been there.

Kathiemt, you are absolutely right. Entrecard is very VERY addictive. I can't sleep without dropping at least 70 cards. rsmiley You should try it because card dropping really takes you to sites that you have never seen before and network with other carders from all over the world. rsmiley

Hi - just wanted to point out something neat that entrecard has added.  In the dashboard there is a tab labelled your ads - if you go right to the bottom of this there is a link that says "turbocharge this".  If you click that it brings up a view of the ads you've placed in a calendar and for each ad  you can see what it cost you and how many clicks you got on it.  For future ads obviously you don't get the clicks info, just the date each will run and the cost.
