thanks guys :-)

I wrote it because I constantly found myself having to explain what SEO is and I thought the horse racing analogy would be useful since Australians are a nation of gamblers

i'm in the minority as well, but we're completely outnumbered. According to http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/6313083.stm

How do they get stats like that?  I mean no-one we know or hang around with gambles at all, including lotto tickets or anything (my parents would be the only people I know personally who buys a x-lotto ticket).  And we have quite a wide circle of friends and contacts.  We - meaning my husband and me, plus our grown daughters.

They probably just count the number of people participating in Melbourne Cup office sweep or footy tipping.

I actually don't even participate in the office sweep. Waste of money and nothing good comes out from gambling IMHO, but then people just think you are anti-social... rsad

I'm in the minority as well. Where's the fun in handing over my money for nothing? I seriously don't get it.  It's totally illogical.

I'm not a big gambler, but I think it's fun. I used to go to the trots quite often with some friends, have dinner, some drinks, watch the bands, watch the horses and put the odd $1 bet on. I once won around $2000 in one hit (a lucky pick that cost me $3 to place). It's a big thrill when you do win, but some people take it too far.
