Has anyone been watching this new series called
Dexter]
? It has Michael C Hall who used to be in Six Foot Under as a serial killer who kills serial killers. It isn't often that I find a new tv show that I like and this show came to me as a surprise. It is dark and twisted yet surprisingly witty.
There's about an hour to go before tonight's episode. Yay!
Who here has pay tv?
A quick note - can we all try to avoid putting any plot spoilers in this thread as many people here haven't seen the show and are watching it at different stages.

Not me! >
I was most excited when we got channel 10 earlier this year. Before that it was just ABC plus a local station. Well, channel 10 is a local station too but they pretty much just put on whatever the city channel 10 is showing.
Mind you, I spend too much time on the net so don't watch much TV anyway.....

Better than pay TV, I have friends with unlimited broadband
I'm just about to settle down to watch Season 2 episode 4, and I love it all to bits. It is the best TV series I have seen in a long time - I have unwatched Heroes and Battlestar Galactica episodes that I have put to one side until I have exhausted the available Dexters. It has probably kept me sane through this intense period of work. I am just glad that my cheap DVD player handles DivX.
I guess that means that I might be a little dark and twisted myself
Best regards, Andrew

I just finished watching season 1 episode 4. I know it is a good series when I feel like I appreciated every single moment the show was on. That probably makes no sense.
I only just found out today that there's 24 episodes already - I cant wait to see how it all unfolds.

My sister does too. She loads me up with everything (for my
very cheap
dvd player, which now will only play divX!). She's not getting Dexter though, I'll have to mention it to her.

I really enjoyed 6 Feet Under but Dexter was a tad too dark for me so I only watched the first few episodes. I think it is partly because Michael C Hall is so good in the part and I find his character too disturbing.

He is brilliant - and there is something about him which is very engaging even though he is playing a serial killer who kills serial killers. I see he has been nominated for various awards around the place due to his performances in Dexter. Hopefully this means the series will be around for a while. I hate it when they axe something I've been enjoying.

I download Dexter from the net using
bitorrent
and play it on my XBox. I've watched all the episodes up to series 2, episode 12.
Yes, it is very disturbing, but also very engaging.

Hi squadron,
I find the confronting interpersonal stuff - the ex-husband who won't take no for an answer, the rude neighbour, the stalking girlfriend - more disturbing than I do the hunting down and killing off of serial murderers. This is probably disturbing in and of itself (that said, I am more likely to encounter rude stupid people than I am serial killers).

We love Dexter in this house !
I'm impressed the writers have got his character spot on,from a psychological point of view, and Michael C Hall plays him just right.
Yep, pretty dark and twisted around this cave in the hills....

I have pay TV, but I didn't sign up for the movie channels, so I miss out on Dexter. I do have the first six episodes on my computer, but just haven't gotten around to watching them yet.

You may love it as much as I do - Donna took five episodes to get into it, I was hooked from S1e1

I don't know what it is about Michael C Hall. I don't find him "cute" in the traditional sense of cute, but there's something about him that just makes you want to keep an eye on him.
Riayn - I'd be interested to know what you think - and if you manage to just watch one episode. I'm watching it on Foxtel so I can drag it out because if I had the eps here, I'd watch them all in one marathon sitting..

I watched the first two episodes last night. Yeah, I am hooked. Extremely interesting premise. I am having fun working out exactly what Dexter is. He isn't a sociopath, as he believes he is, as he actually cares what his family and people close to him think of him. I have him down as having high functioning autism with homidical tendencies. The forensic procedures in the show are pretty realistic as well.

I'm anxiously awaiting Thursdays now, because that is when Showcase plays the next episode.
I'm glad I'm doing it this way instead of d/l the eps because I am absolutely terrible with DVD box sets. I don't know what happens but there is always a point in the series where I have to watch the next episode right away, and the next one, and the next one..
Desperate Housewives was the worst - The Other Half went to work one day and by the time he got home I'd watched 8 episodes.. it sucked me in.. I had no idea it was a dark comedy type thing until I caught the pilot on Foxtel once and thought I'd give it a try. He took the box set away from me and rationed my episodes from then on

Lol. No such rationing in this house. When we decide to watch a show, we watch it. Even if it takes days.
I tend to not watch anything for ages and then go on a TV bender. I've only watched 2 seasons of Desperate Houswives though. The mood will strike me sometime, I guess...

The Feral Fruit of My Loins goes on marathons of Monty Python and The Goodies til we dream John Cleese is riding a 3-tandem bike singing Always Look On The Bright Side of Life whilst chasing that huge kitten....(now hiding the DVDs)

At least your 'Feral Fruit' have good taste. Imagine what horrors they could inflict on you?

It gets worse - walking through a shopping centre yesterday I noticed "High School Musical II: Extended Version".

I had completely forgotten how difficult it is to watch a tv show when it is only on once a week instead of a box set on the shelf..
The latest episode just played, and now I am hanging out for next week's episode already!
