I'm a colourlab addict. I love this thing.

It has all the 216 web safe colours on a little colour wheel and you can click on them to try colours next to each other.

Colourlab

They have some amazing colour charts there.

And yes, in Australia we spell it with a u rwink but I couldn't do that in the URL else you'd get a 404.

I like that - very useful.
Another tool that I really like is at Big Huge Labs - the "palette generator" where you can upload an image and it will give you a palette of colours to match it.

Its great if you´ve got a header image to use and you want everything else to blend with it.

I am hopeless at picking colours myself, so its essential for me! Embarrassed

I like that palette generator.  I created my new image yesterday and wasn't really having much luck with the colourlab thing in finding colors that matched the way I wanted them to.

LOL I wish I had've come across this thread about an hour ago  rgrin

I've just been playing around with a stylesheet - my biggest problem is that sometimes I don't know exactly which bit of code stuff relates to what part of the page I'm working on - so sometimes I have to fiddle a bit to figure it out. Then of course there's the problem where sometimes those colours eg E4EEF6 don't always show up on all the pages you find - in the past I've had to open a site where I can make the code for ads etc and try to match colours (slack I know :-) ) but I've just come across another cool site - where I can paste the code in (so I know what colour it actually is) then play around and mix and match from there.

ColorSchemer

There's actually a trial version you can download, but I haven't done that so I don't know exactly what it does (online version does enough for me)

With regards to matching colours, I use a firefox extension, Colorzilla, which gives me an eyedropper in my nav bar so I can just go to any part of any page and get the color code I want.  I find it pretty handy.

I'm considering buying one of the color charts on Visibone for my wall, because I printed this out and laminated it -

http://html-color-codes.com/

I find myself referring to it constantly. I have it on a clipboard which hangs on my wall right next to the computer but it never seems to stay on the hook very long! rwink

One of the hardest things I have to do is come up with a decent looking colour scheme when I'm trying to layout something. So here are a couple of sites to help the colour challenged like me:

I use a little free download program for capturing images and for an eye dropper tool to pick colors.

MWSnap

I have so many Firefox extensions I try to avoid more if I can find this sort of alternative.

Cool! I'd not seen this before. Does anyone know if there is a site where you can look up a PMS code and find out what the RGB codes are?  I had someone send me a PMS number yesterday and try as I could, I couldn't find out what the correct mix was - I've made up close but would love to get it exact.

I really like "I like your colors"..  http://redalt.com/Tools/I+Like+Your+Colors  You put in your website and it pulls out all of the colors used in the CSS, giving you a swatch of them.  This is great if you need to extend or modify your CSS and want to see what all the different colours are.

I never knew about most of these tools. When I'm picking a scheme for my blog I choose the main colour in Photoshop and go from there. I try to have the one main colour - turquoise at the moment, and find something to contrast with it. So I guess the photoshop colour picker is my colour wheel.
