Useful to know, Meg. Will have to give a few things a test run I think. I'd heard about newsgator. i'll have a look at that too.

Don't want you to think I'm pushing Google Reader
I just threw it in in case anyone is weighing up pros and cons.

No worries, Meg. that's exactly the kind of information I wanted. It's impossible to see the functionality without signing up. (Unless you have a forum to tell you.)

I've just started using Google Reader, having used bloglines until about a week or so ago.
Still not sure if I think GR is an improvement?

So far I'm loving this Blogbridge one Lani mentioned - it looks like it will work for me.

I primarily use a Mac, with the Mac you can read your RSS feeds right inside the built-in email client.. (just drag a feed to your email) pretty neat, simple.
Otherwise, I also read a lot of feeds using an RSS
dashboard widget
.
One of my sites in particular is quite popular, I noticed a lot of people reading the site using RSS, so I developed a
Dashboard Widget
for my site, advertised it on the site for people to download, etc. I went from around 3,000 subscribers to 15,000 subscribers (in less than 2 months) after setting up the dashboard widget.
Basically when developing the widget, you code-in the RSS url... then package the app. When users download the widget and view it, it just automatically displays the feed from your site. You can cusomise the widget with graphics, titles, all kinds of fancy stuff.
a little info on my widget inc a pic,
here
I've discovered mac users love to read feeds in dashboard... (like gadgets if your a vista user)
So for a web site which is read by 96% apple mac users it was a great move to setup the widget
I should develop these widets for others, perhaps I'll make a bit of coin.. heh

Does anyone use Yahoo? I have my email and such with yahoo, so it might be worth checking out, but I don't see any link to it on their page. I'm currently using Google, which is simple enough for me - I don't need to organize my feeds in any way, and I like having it on an outside service because I like to read them at work during lunch, and I have IE at work as I'm unable to download anything.

Yeah I'm loving this blogbridge so far..
The Admin was none too thrilled that I couldn't tell him who created it. He now seems to think I have to check with him anytime I want to install something on the computer..

I downloaded FeedDemon to give it a try having realized that their RSS products are all free now. It was very quick and simple to import my Bloglines feeds. Their "FeedStation" tool sits in your system tray and informs you of updates to feeds too.
