I'm still pretty sure I don't want to be a Ninja, a Pirate, a Pet, a Hot Date, Kissed, pseudo-categorised by which anime girl I am, etc rsmiley But I can see the benefit of it as a networking tool, even if it is mostly used for fun rather than work.

Cheers, Andrew

Does that mean we can bite?  xgrin

(don't worry, I ignore all apps too)

I have just discovered the block this application feature when you are invited to add yet another one. I have been using it a lot. Facebook becomes too time consuming if you accept everything sent to you.

Hubby asked me to join Facebook recently so he could link to me as his wife.

Since then he has been sending me endless pokes, proposals, puppies etc.  Glad to know there are ways I can block them.

Took a wander through my old high schools group and realised that I just don't care enough about the people I went to school with to want to get in touch with them now.

Well I knew I could link to my blog through facebook - I put it in as my webpage.

Then my niece and I became ' friends' in facebook.

Then my niece found my blog and showed her mum - my sister in law.

Then my sister in law told all the mums at our kinder about it.

Hmmmm

Anyways I was fiddling on facebook today and realised you can import your blog into the notes on facebook.  It checks the feeds and updates itself and stuff.

D'oh, that only took me a couple of weeks to figure out.

In the notes application, not entirely sure where but I opened up notes and clicked on writing a note myself and there was an option to link to your blogs RSS feed.

Do many of you use fb to promote your blog(s) or do you prefer to just use it to stay in touch with people?

So far I have only really used it to catch up with friends that don't live nearby, but I am up for any idea that helps me to get my blog out there.

I use it mostly to catch up with friends and family overseas, although I do add my blogging friends too. I have set up a group which I suppose is a form of promotion.

I have the wp.com application that automatically updates your feed with your latest post, although I mainly use it to keep in touch with friends back in the UK, it has seemed to bring me some traffic from people seeing that I've made a post and coming to read it, on an average day I'd say about 3% of my referrals are from FB, so it's not enough to break me, but it's 3% I wouldn't be getting otherwise!

I have been thinking of setting up a "Fan" group for my blog, but I know that I'd be upset when I didn't have anyone join  xlaugh

Thanks ladies. I have bought my own domain and am going to move over to it and switch to wp soon. I love the idea of having an aplication that puts a message in my feed. An extra 3% is always welcome  xsmiley

Hi all,

I joined Facebook ages ago but couldn't get into it. Made a more concerted effort last year and am finding it useful for many things - and often very inspirational for blogging topics.

I've had Facebook for several months but it seems that you are very limited in what you can do if you have no friends. I don't wish to be friends with people at work (which could affect my employment), my old school mates are lame, and Facebook discourages being friends with people you don't know.

But I've now got my official Facebook URL...
