What blog post do you think is your best ever?

Well, for the last eighteen months or so, I've had an average of 50 visitors per day, and it's been very consistent. Then I had two weeks vacation at home and, in my new relaxed state, I must have upped the ante, because my counter suddenly jumped to 70+... and stayed there for the whole two weeks. It's still about 60.

I did a feel-good blog post about the "Free Hugs" guy having his fourth anniversary:
http://therinofandor.blogspot.com/2008/07/four-years-of-free-hugs-today-racing.html

And a post about colour blindness that attracted a link - within minutes - to a blog about access and equity in government services:
http://therinofandor.blogspot.com/2008/07/confessions-of-colourblind-man-now-i.html

And just today, I did a response to a classic FAQ to my "Number 96" site:
http://therinofandor.blogspot.com/2008/07/miss-not-appearing-in-this-tv-series.html

Perhaps the most fun I ever had preparing a blog post is probably this:
http://therinofandor.blogspot.com/2008/02/foggiest-notion-it-seemed-like-great.html
(The jokes were so funny - to me, at the time - I was laughing so hard at my own cleverness I could barely walk back to the car, and could barely wait to get back home so I could load the digital images and compile the text for the blog entry.)

The most popular post on my site is all about how to watch high definition television. Alot of people don't understand the concept of the new channels 7HD, TEN HD and Nine HD, so it explains how they can be viewed. Why Can’t I Get 7HD Or Ten HD on my TV? & Some Digital TV Help…
Most of the confusion has to do with Standard Definition set top box versus High Definition set top box and if a normal TV can take them.

Well you won't see mine here.

I post a lot on pharmacy topics in Australia's largest online pharmacy forum. However it is a closed forum since media started taking private conversations out and distorting them.

But you will get the gist by visiting www.auspharmlist.net.au

But stay tuned to BitingTheDust because some are just around the corner!

i don't like to use the term "best blog post", but certainly the "most viewed" was a post made on the day that Charmaine Dragun tragically died last year.

http://blog.televisionau.com/2007/11/charmaine-dragun.html

In second place, with only 13% of the number of hits compared to the above, was http://blog.televisionau.com/2007/10/7hd-creeps-onto-screen.html

very closely followed by http://blog.televisionau.com/2007/11/for-sale-another-tv-icon.html

There are a number of ways of determining the 'best' blog post so I think I have more than one.

Biggest response in terms of links acquired and immediate spike in traffic...

Linkbait at any cost as it sparked controversy and got online marketers debating. Generated about 60 inbound links.

Most successful in social media circles - posted in forums and still receiving Diggs and Stumbles months after originally posting...

How to win arguments online

Most search engine traffic...

How to become a superhero. Seriously, I get tons of Google traffic from people wanting to know how to get super powers. "How do I become Spider-Man" etc.

So I need to produce more controversial posts on online marketing, containing superheroes that people find funny. Should be easy!

My most popular post was a total surprise to me. It was an obscure product review of the Yoggie Gatekeeper Pico that got more than 600 visits one day and has consistently been the most visited nearly every month since. It gets mainly UK visitors.

Links attracted? Honestly, as an SEO I should be thinking about linkbait but I do that in the day job. I haven't checked which posts have attracted links and intend to keep it that way.

Comments? I rarely get more than 5-6 comments.

I'm lucky to get one or two comments per entry, but I just hit the motherload!

I did "Before" and "After" pics of a shoestring makeover of my school library. Only two days into yet, and maany more things to change, but lots popped in to comment on my start! Very exciting:

I'll say my favourite post:

6 years on...
6 years after my very best friend passed on, I pondered upon how much life has changed and how both his presence and absence have had an impact on my life.

I get a range of 2-10 comments a day - maximum 35. And the comments don't tell how many visitors at all - I think its just how your blog is set out to be and the quality of your readers.

I like: Top 10 Things to Remember When Times Get Tough - worked hard on that one.  Maybe it's just too new for the plugin to give it weight yet rwink

It was my first ever webinar, because I got such great feedback for it. Its a great way to get your point across and its a great contrast to written posts.

Its harder than it looks so I was glad to have it over with.

My best blog post was undoubtedly a post about whether war could ever be considered (from a philosophical point of view) just or not or if there was such a thing as a just war. It was posted on my very first weblog at xanga and was the one that got attention from people and got linked to the most. The reason it was the best post for me was because it ended up getting me a ongoing job as a columnist for a newspaper and I still am writing the column after three years. The post itself was the very first article/edition of the column. The xanga blog became an online repository for the column. I could find the link but it is buried in the archives and will take some digging.

Now I have stopped using the xanga blog and while it is still open for anyone wanting to peruse it and the column archives, everything is published on my website's blog now including the latest column articles.

For now the best blog post on my website is this one on my experience thus far as a freelancer and the tips for anyone else attempting it and it's related successors since I am posting them in sets of five tips each.

I hope you enjoy it. Cheers, Marisa

My best blogpost was "The perfect CV"

I have some good ones in general, but that's one of the best. Sadly I find my readers to read a pointless post about a stain on my desk!

I can't believe it!  rwink

That's a very tricky one...

Maybe this one:
Bat Faeces Soup

I'm quite proud of this one too:
<a href="http://savesavesave.blogspot.com/2008/04/telstra-must-die.html>Telstra Must Die[/url]

And from my more recent ones:
<a href="http://savesavesave.blogspot.com/2009/01/bikini-jeans.html>Bikini Jeans[/url]

Sometimes the ones I think are the funniest are the ones people scratch their head about.  That's the price you pay for being weird...

My best blog entries...

For a straight, text-based "blog type" blog entry, this one about my final outing to the Glenelg cinema is probably my personal favourite:
http://davidmgreen.com/?p=100

In terms of funny photos, probably this one from when I went to a costume party last year:
http://davidmgreen.com/?p=77

In terms of a blog with links to video, this one about '80s TV commercials, which I believe is my best visual comedy to date:
http://davidmgreen.com/?p=79

In terms of a blog with links to audio, no contest, it's my collection of Bas Rutten-related radio sketches:
http://davidmgreen.com/?p=61

And for my most viewed blog entry, sadly it's my tribute to the late Richard Marsland:
http://davidmgreen.com/?p=92

Hmm... Good blogs.
