Ian,

Was it "Mr Javo"?  If so well done you kicked my bum heh.

No, Jamaipanese was the kind donor to my entrecard kitty.

Pickles,

that is a bugger, but I guess Darren needs to be a little fussy. I had to think hard about whether I would accept an ad from "Look 4 Dream Girls" - I checked the site out, they did have clothes on, but it is way outside my niche and potentially offensive so I had to think about it.

On the plus side, my ad price is now at 35 credits, and it seems to climb every day rsmiley

I suppose, but it hurts to be passed over by one of the billion "make money online" blogs like todays advertiser, http://ejcooksey.blogspot.com/ why? WHYYYYYYY?  :'( Actually my three sites were all rejected. Oh well, I best go grab a coffee. rcheesy

Your card looks great Lani.  I have subscribed to your feed in readiness.  rgrin

I am having trouble finding advertising spots.  So many seem to be full and the ones that aren't (that I can afford) have their card so low down (or hidden) you'd wonder if many people would see the ad.  Anyone else having this trouble?

Me too, Lightening. I canīt afford most of them or they are full. I am finding the categories not that helpful actually, although I only just saw the Personal category today which has a lot in it.  Embarrassed I guess I need to find more time to card drop to up my credits.

What categories have everyone registered in? And for those whoīve been using it for a while, have you seen lots of traffic from any particular type of advertising? Are you just sticking to your own category?

I'm browsing and advertising (when I can) in a range of categories.  I tend to read all kinds of different blogs anyway.  What category to put mine into was hard.  I started with house and gardening and I think now I might be in the parenting/family category (can't remember).  Nothing really fits me entirely.  Perhaps I'll category hop a little and see what happens.   rtongue

Hi Folks,

I've started a list of Aussie bloggers on Entrecard - if you know anyone that isn't on the list please let me know and I'll add 'em. I'll add newly-entrecarded blogs as they come up here too.

Anyone who has multiple blogs on Entrecard but only one on my list please let me know the others and I'll add them too rsmiley

Hi All,
Just joined Aussie Bloggers. Have been using Entre card for 2 and a bit days. I have in that time managed to do a lot of drops (631). I am slowly compiling a list of blogs with the widgett in their opening screen to make dropping faster. Will Aim to get up to about 200 there and then just float and browse the other 100 drops a day. It now costs 62 Credits to advertise on my blog, and I have had 29 Clicks from my blog to others.

I am being rather fussy about who advertises on my blog. THe first three got through and I've left them, but from then on it had to be really closely related to my own content to advertise. In contrast I am advertising on a number of other poeples blogs from a range of categories. I think my content should be relevant to everyone (doesn't every blogger,  rwink)

Anyway just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

Hi Amy,

welcome to the forums rsmiley

I just KNOW my content is relevant to everyone - everyone with a blog that is rsmiley (so to answer the earlier question, I advertise on a wide range of blogs).

I've had a few clickthroughs from ads already - and some of those people have ended up on the forums here, so as a forum promotional exercise I would say it was successful rsmiley

Best regards, Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Just noticed that both Swollen Pickles (http://www.swollenpickles.com) and Motor Dude (http://www.motordude.com) are pointing to other blogs urls?

I have a question.  I've approved a couple of ads but they don't necessarily add in the order I want them in the cue.  Does entrecard just place them in the order they were requested?

Aargh! Sorry, that is what I get for copy/pasting URLs too close together in WordPress rich text editor in a hurry. Have fixed (I ended up getting about five of them wrong).

Thanks for letting me know.

Lani - Good question.  Will see if I can find out for you.

Amy - Good move you need to do the best for your website.  Me I just go for a broad range as I only have a few brethren in the Home and Garden category.  Most of whom I suspect can not afford the 208 credits to advertise on my blog.  I do go for a range of the newer and established blogs.  It has driven traffic to my site for sure.

I'm confused.
Is this entrecard thing an advertising network for bloggers?

Is this of any great use to your average, just doing something for themselves personal blogger who isn't particuarly interested in making money off their blog?

Hi Bettina,

it is useful in getting more readers - and this makes sense if you are making money from readers, or if you just want to expose your writing to a wider audience. It depends why you blog - if it never matters that another human being read any of your writing, then promotion doesn't make much sense. Money or not, a lot of bloggers like getting more readers - this is especially helpful when you're starting out, and want to ensure that you get at least some comments on every post (and I will be honest here, I really like comments) rsmiley

So... the answer to your question is probably "it depends".

Bettina,

It is a free advertising scheme for your web site.  It is aimed at driving traffic to your blog.  The benefit is that you will pick up a number of new readers, that otherwise would not know you existed.  My Alexa traffic graphs shows that traffic to my little neck of the woods went up 4900%.  Due to this place, Blog Catalog, and Entrecard.  The real spike came from Entrecard.

Yes, it's basically an advertising network for bloggers based pretty much on exchange (in a larger sense).  You earn points and then spend points on advertising.  It also looks like it's fast becoming a form of "blog exchange" in the sense that blogs are offering competitions where you can win points and they also have a shop where you can spend your points (on things like blog reviews, domain hosting, ebooks, all kinds of things it would seem).

I would say yes it's worth it even if you don't want to monetise your blog.  I'm preparing a blog post about my early experiences which I plan to post next week sometime to give my readers a bit of a follow up to my original post about it.

I just noticed something on my dashboard. I had applied for 2 ads 5 days ago and they were still saying pending, which was a bit annoying. I clicked through to their entrecard page and one of them could not be found so I presume this means they withdrew from entrecard.

I cancelled the ad application and also the other one that was still pending cause I figured I didnīt want to wait for them to get around to approving or rejecting.

You probably all already know this, but its worth keeping an eye on your ad applications because those two pending ones were tying up credits. The credits were added again once I cancelled the ads.

For anyone not happy with their card design or doesn't have the tools to do it, there is a free offer here from digital lounge.

ReDesign your EntreCard for free !

The cost is actually subscribing to the blog.  But his designs look pretty good  rwink
