Aussie Bloggers using Entrecard

This list is provided in order to help members connect with each other via Entrecard and to make it easy for Aussies to drop their card on other Aussie blogs.
Inclusion on the list is voluntary.

If you would like to be added just reply to this thread once, with the URL to your blog that is displaying the Entrecard widget. My intention would be to visit each blog on the list as often as possible to drop my card on other Aussie blogs and see how it goes for a while.

Aussie Bloggers Blog  is now on Entrecard - Let's try to drop on their card regularly to increase their points and raise our Aussie profile.

Blog: Aussie Bloggers
Entrecard details: Aussie Bloggers

I just joined up with Entrecard - http://roamingaussiemum.com but I'm still finding my way around it.

I already have a queue of people wanting to advertise on my site (presumably because its cheap) and i was wondering is there any etiquette in approving ads. Should it be done ona first come first served basis or should I be picking the best fit. Is it more in keeping with the philosophy of the system to approve most people (unless they are offensive of course)?

Also, when people advertise does their card replace my card in the widget?

A question: if Entrecard is about bloggers helping to market themselves, why don't they have a metablogging/blogging-on-blogging category (given that some commentators claim this to be the most popular niche for would-be A-list bloggers)?

I noticed that when I started as well. When you first start it only costs 2 credits for people to advertise on your blog. I guess people go and check the latest additions section under the campaigns tab and try and pick up ads on the newest blogs while they are cheap. How you approve ads is up to you. Personally I go for best fit, followed by first come first served, depending upon how many are in my queue.

Also, when people advertise does their card replace my card in the widget?

That's correct. Once you've approved the first ad, it will start showing up in the widget on your site.

I've wondered that myself. The categories certainly don't cover off everything. I always have trouble with categories. I never know where to file swollenpickles.com under.

Thanks Pickles,

categorisation is usually done badly - it keeps people like me in beer money rsmiley

So... my choices are:
Computers and Internet
Internet marketing
Making money online
Web development

None of which come close to metablogging rsmiley I'll try "Computers and Internet".

Cheers, Andrew

On advertising stratregy a lot of people go for the cheaper spots.  These are snapped up like wild fire.

Others go for the top 3 from category.  These sites due to their increased exposure in the "Campaign" screen do receive extra traffic.  This could then translate to traffic to your site.

Personally I find a mix works best.

I do though steer away from over priced ones.  I figure I would rather have 2-3 day across multiple sites rather than put my eggs in the basket of 1 site.

Hi Pickles,

I'm experimenting with onblogging.com.au for now (have added it to the list above myself).

I've got Entrecard on my blog.  It looked interesting enough to have a bit of a play with and see what it does.

Okay, I have just joined.  Only problem is I'm having trouble designing my card.  It seems like I can only get plain text by using their standard cards (can I not even choose my own colours????).  I finally figured out how to resize and upload a picture but how do I get text over the top of it?  Is this something I have to do to my image before I upload it?  If so, I don't know how to do that!!!

What image editing software do you have in your computer?

If you have none and are using windows you can cheat using powerpoint.  When you've got everything you want arranged where you want them, you can group all the objects then right click and "save as picture".

Do people get upset if you reject their advertising requests?  I've been checking out the blogs of some of those who have requested and not sure I want to "endorse" some of them by advertising them to my readers.  I noticed though it's not a simple case of pressing reject - you have to provide a reason.  I don't want to upset anybody.   rundecided

Lightening, if you do not find it relevant nor want to endorse it then reject it as "Not relevant".  You need to protect what is your site and reputation after all.

Hi Lightening
I felt the same at first but did not want to compromise my blog by accepting ads from sites that I did not think appropriate for my readers - so I have rejected quite a few. I notice that some people have over 60% rate of rejecting ads so we are not alone. This is the reason I have kept this widget - because it does give you the choice, other similar schemes don't. I, like Shadow, reject them as not relevant. I don't think people could get annoyed by that. If they do they are probably the pushy or even spammy sort. There are plenty of other sites they can advertise on including the other pushy spammy sort  rwink
