About pages

I was thinking today that my "about" pages suck. And one of my blogs doesn't even have one, although it has a little sidebar sentence about the blog itself, which doesn't really tell the reader anything about the people *writing* the blog.

Which made me feel even guiltier about the crap job I was doing

So, can anyone think of any great About pages? How much info do you think they should have?

You can have a look at mine.. it basically just says what the blogs about and then my personal intersts. I use it more of a half arsed explanation as to why hobbies are bundled with current events.

I'm still in the paranoid stage of revealing too much personal information about myself online (not that it's relevant to what I blog about but still...)

I've seen some fabilous "About" pages, and the ones that always take my eye are those that are animated.

I don't mean with pics, but it needs to jump out at me is the thing.

Mine is short and sweet, nothing more, nothing less.

I guess the question is, how many people actually read it??

I'll admit to not reading them very often these days, unless I Stumble on a blog that grabs me, and I want to know a little about the blog owner before I decide if it will keep my interest or not.

For a blog to keep my interest it has to be about the front page, not the about page.

My About page gets a fair share of views and I know it's something that I look for when I find a blog that I like as I like to know who's behind it.

I need to do something about that.  I have pages that are the standard contact me (and I really need to get a contact form again...) and the 100 things... I have one that is a sorta about page but desperately needs updating.

I have seen some great about pages, but for the life of me can't think which blogs that I saw them on.

Mine was thrown together when my blog was launced over 12 months ago and I must admit that I haven't looked at it since. I'm sure that it needs an overhaul. Apart from anything else, I am another year older so that part needs to change because with a year I stepped into another whole decade.......

I do tend to read a few posts and then read the about page to decide if its something that I want to keep reading or not.

LOL!  When it comes to blog design I am a doofus.  Seriously.  My current design was done on a drunken evening.
