We are in the process of creating our website, we have done the design, layout and written the content for ourselves.  Just wondering how to get it online, is it easy to do? did you do it yourself? or did you pay someone to do it for you?   rsmiley

Regards and thanks,

Hi Lynda and Jayde

It should be fairly simple to get it online.
What you need is a domain name
A hosting account
and a FTP program (I use FileZilla which is free)

Once you've got all of that you basically point your FTP program at your hosting account and at your local copy of your web site and tell it to transfer the files.
You may have to rename the file for the home page to something like index.html, default.htm, or something similar. Your web hosting provider will be able to tell you what that name should be.

Cheers
Mark

Hi,

Thanks heaps for your advice.  We are very happy to say that the website is up and running now, although it did test our patience for a minute there.  rsmiley

Most good hosting companies will assist you in uploading your files. You will need some kind of FTP client to use in uploading your files. Filezilla is a good and free one. Your design software likely was this built into the program. I noticed that you didn't mention that you have optimized your site. If you don't know how you might want to read this from Google.
