To Send A Message

From within a forum thread, click on the IM icon beneath the user's details.

From a profile page, click on "Send this user a personal message"

Either of these will open the "New Message" screen with the user ID you are sending your message to already entered.  If you want to add more people, you can use the Bcc box, comma separating your list.  If you're not sure of the correct IDs, you can use the "Find Members" function.

Enter your message, and format it as you like.  The formatting options available are identical to sending a post within the forum. if you wish, you can save a copy to your mailbox.

Press send.

To Receive / Manage Your Messages

Click on "# messages" in the top left corner of your screen to access your mailbox.

This will bring up a list of the messages you have received, with the full text of your messages displayed below.  The menu on the left allows you to access your outbox and sent messages as well.

To reply to a message, use the "Reply" or "Quote" buttons in the full text display just as you would in the forums.  You can also delete individual messages this way or delete bulk items using the checkboxes in the list at the top.

Just a reminder to members -

Don't forget to check your private messages!

Remember, the forum shows you in the top corner of the site if you have any private messages.

It can be a good idea to make sure you have email notification set up so that when someone sends you a private message you get an email from the forums to let you know.
