Blogging is what I do best

I have to say it.
"A bad workman quarrels with his tools"
If someone's going to flame someone else, it's not twitter's fault, or outlook express' fault, or the forum's fault.  Responsibility lies, fairly and squarely, with the people who don't stop to think before they blurt.

I love twitter.  I think it's a brilliant cross between blogging and chat, except with a lot more control/filtering built in.

It's also another way to add value to your readers.
For eg, I see that [insert something here] has a special on for today only - a blog post is going to take too long, and hang around long after it's expired, but a quick tweet and anyone in my group who's online to take advantage of it now knows about it.
I check out a couple of links that problogger has put up and find something really excellent, I can pass the ball on.
I find I'm going to have to turn my computer in for service, a quick tweet lets followers know AND it sits in the sidebar of my blog for anyone visiting tomorrow and wondering why I've not posted, without having my search engine results return "I'm not going to be around for a few days" to anyone who just discovered me.

I couldn't agree more. Let's say a blog post is a phone call, then a tweet is an SMS. Sometimes you need to spend some time in a conversation and sometime you just want to quickly notify.

Living in Sweden, blogging in English... I'm crazy

I'm on Twitter, but I'm not a hundred percent sure why, to be honest rwink I barely understand what Twitter does for me, or for anyone else for that matter.
... Oh and while I'm at it: I can't stand the ones who keep on posting every fifth minute. What's the point? It's just annoying. As annoying as spam, actually rtongue

Since I'm all new to it, though, I'll give it a few more goes before I decide to hate it entirely rgrin

From the "duh" files:

Twitter users have short attention spans

Short... like 140 characters long???

Still, despite all the nay sayers I love twitter and what I get from it. I've been using it for just over 2 years now and I won't be stopping anytime soon!

Blogging runs in the family

But the questions I'm asking in this thread are - is twitter bad for blogging? Is twitter bad for bloggers? rsmiley

One aspect aside from the social side of Twitter that I think is bad for blogging & bloggers is that bloggers are now tending to tweet about interesting links rather than blog about them.
Apparently it's part of the trend towards linklove stinginess that seems to be occuring.

Although now you can claim your Twitter account on Technorati, maybe some of those Twitter links will become more relevant.
