So as mentioned, we're starting a new Dexter thread to go along with Dexter making a fresh start on Channel 10 this coming Sunday. Now that all members of Aussie Bloggers are able to watch the show without pay tv or on dvd, the forum members who have watched it before are going to join them on their Dexter Journey.

WARNING. Absolutely NO spoilers are to be posted in this thread.

You may *ONLY* discuss the episode that has just aired on Channel 10.

If anyone is confused about the protocol for discussing things in this thread please PM the Admins.

We reserve the right to remove the ability to post from anyone who tries to ruin the show for those viewing it for the first time. Please be considerate of those who have not seen the show yet.

You may want to hit record on your VCR or DVD recorder when Dexter starts, because the episodes are fairly detailed and sometimes those of us who have seen the show several times over might mention a detail that you want to go back and check out for yourself. We will also fill you in on anything we spot that has been cut out of the episodes.

And now, a spoiler free treat for those new to the show - a visit to Dexter's apartment and an interview with Michael C Hall has appeared in The Age. You can read the article here.

I encourage anyone who hasn't yet seen Dexter to take advantage of it being shown on free to air tv. I'm currently enjoying the 2nd season (no spoilers coming from this keyboard).

My Foxtel IQ is programmed and we are setting up my birthday present from the weekend, a DVD recorder so I can start recording from the beginning. I am SUPER excited!

It's SUCH a good show. One of the best on at the moment. I advise everybody to have a look at the very least. I'll be surprised if it doesn't grab you....it's brilliant!
I'm really looking forward to seeing people's reactions after the first episode

I am really looking forward to some of the members here who have wanted to watch it for ages being able to see it rwink

And frankly I could watch Dexter 24/7 - I have lost count of the amount of times I have seen these episodes now. When it was on Showcase they would play each episode several times a week and I would tune into as many of those airings as I could. I never thought to record them on the DVD recorder.. how dim am I! rwink

Then I got the dvd's, then I watched those a few times, and now with the replays on showcase again those get aired several times over each week - I try and catch as many of those as I can. In fact last night I managed to see eps 11/12 twice within 24 hours. On this rewatching I have discovered so much I missed previously.

I am still glued to the screen every single viewing, too - that is a sign of a great show in my book. Even though I know what happens and there isn't that screaming at the screen thing I used to do on first airings.

I'll be doing a Dexter post on the blog on Friday - being careful not to spoil anyone but with a bit of an overview of the other cast members and also if the Admins get around to it some stuff about why we love the show so much. rwink

You won't be disappointed Ian.
 xgrin
I'm with you Snos...I can't get enough of it! Every time I see an episode I have to watch it. Doesn't matter that I've seen them all 3 or 4 times, there's always something I pick up that I missed the other times. May only be small, but  find it all the same. We've got it on DVD too, and if there is little that grabs us we put one on.
The reactions of those who have never seen it will be as enthusiastic as those of us who have seen it multiple times.
We only buys box sets of things we can watch again and again no matter how many times we've seen it. I near broke both legs getting to the store when season 1 came out, and I'll be no different when season 2 comes out. The thought of season 3 almost makes me dribble!
I'll be keeping an eye on this thread closely if for nothing but the reactions of those who are new to the show.

Heh, I feel a bit behind the times - I've only seen the eps once; I'm thinking I should pick up with y'all though I'm not sure I want to be watching exactly at the same time since that's 6.40 AM for me rgrin

Also, incidentally, I noticed that they're replaying Season 2 here in the States on Showtime from Sunday at 9:00 ET

That raises a couple of questions for me.

1. I wonder if they'll do that here?

and

2. Perhaps that's an indication it may not be far from coming out on DVD?

The minute it hits DVD, I'm there!

From Amazon - This title will be released on August 19, 2008.

That's for the Region 1 DVDs; as always check with your local supplier, or just check the blog - August 21st for the Region 4 version rwink

Thanks for the post - good to know who the characters are. And I love the countdown  xgrin

Mum and Dad are going to be in Sydney on Sunday and want to catch up with the kids and I. I told them we had to do lunch, not dinner. I can't risk being home too late and missing Dexter lol

So that is tonight?

Tell me - as someone who has hidden under a rock and not had anything to do with the hype about it, should I shove aside the promising ABC drama, quirky but annoying medical pap, aging detective drama and enterprising geek technology show for it?

Because they'll pale in comparison to this is why Jeanie...tape the others, or tape this...that way you can have the lot

lol - oh for the technology to tape things again!  I lost that when the 15 year old video decided that it no longer wanted to be part of our household!  Just as well, really, as I have not the time to watch most things first time around, let alone at a date of postponement.

Well, what the heck, I will dip my toe into the Dexter pond.  CSI have jumped the shark, anyway, and unfortunately I never remember when the next episode of promising ABC dramas are!  The other two options were really only put there as red herrings!

So yourtv.com.au is saying Dexter is on at 9:50pm.. and so is ten.com.au

I'm not sure who to believe, as airing times on free to air seem to be "whenever we feel like it". So if you sit down at 9:40 and have to endure 10 minutes of Rove to watch Dexter, my greatest apologies.. rsad

Oh no - that puts it against Without a Trace!!!!  Quell difficult choice...  Oh, and SBS has a corker called "Holidays in Places that Don't Exist: Somaliland"...

 xlaugh

But that is okay - I remain one of the last dinosaurs that haven't seen "Titanic" and only succumbed to "Forrest Gump" last year.  I am sure there will be retrospectives.

Suppose it all depends on how long overtime the Big Brother eviction show runs.

Give Dexter a go.
