OpenAustralia is an Australian version of the UK community-developed TheyWorkForYou site, which automatically processes electronically available parliamentary debates and speeches and makes them available for comment and discussion, aggregated with Member information so you can track what debates your Member is participating in, what they're saying and make sure they're doing their job and representing you rather than sitting idly on the bench collecting a sizeable taxpayer-funded salary without earning it!

If you ever needed an incentive to be more involved in politics and tracking what's going on upstairs ... well it's now here. No more excuses. Get on the site, register an account, choose your member by postcode and see what they've been up to lately!

That's a great idea! Now if only someone would do the same thing for the US House and Senate. It might actually make people interested in what their elected representatives are doing.

My local member is Labour - I think I would like to follow an opposition member who is asking the harder questions.  xsmiley

Looks great NathanaelB,

I'm going to comment on it in my eGov AU blog as an example of how the web is enabling citizens.

It's also a useful tool for public servants to keep an eye on what their Ministers are saying.
