Ahoy, I'm Natalie and my blog is definatalie.com!

I'm so glad I've found a forum for Australian bloggers - I often feel like a little ripple in a torrential stream! I blog about art and design and all the wonderful things that are caught up in those topics - professional development, inspiration, health issues, work issues etc. I am a graphic designer and illustrator, so I've got a real curiosity about these areas, and I like to highlight other designers and artisans whose work I appreciate. I also plug my own work a bit too rtongue

My blog is almost a year old, but the blog world continues to baffle me! Monetising, SEO, rankings, etc etc etc all make my head spin but I'm really keen on investigating these topics further.

Some times I wonder why I keep going - it's hard to lure people to your blog, to get subscribers, and it's challenging to write as I'm a very visual person, but I persevere because I have a passion for my subject matter.

I have longed to connect with people who experience the same issues - so I hope there are a few design bloggers hanging out here that I can chat with!

To answer the questions posed in the "When you introduce yourself" thread:
What Internet Browser Do You Use -
I use Firefox for my day to day browsing, but I have IE7 also installed.

What Kind Of Blog Do You Have? (ie blogger, wordpress)
My blog runs on the Serendipity platform. I really enjoy it, but sometimes it feels a little clunky.

What Is Your Screen Resolution -
1280x1024 - I use a 19" CRT.

Welcome to the Forum Natalie. I am sure that you will be able to find answers to lots of your questions. Have a look around, there is already so much great information here. If you can't find an answer, don't be afraid to ask, everyone here is so helpful.

As far as luring people to your blog, the one thing that everybody keeps saying is visit other blogs, comment there and get yourself out in the blogging world so people can find you.

HI Natalie - Welcome. I'll pop over and have a wee look at your blog in a minute - but I would emphasise the real glut of visitors you can get by making a youtube video splattered with your .com name on it - more so if what you are doing is 'visual' - you can have your own channel there and it dirves people to your blog door. Just one wee idea if you're struggling!

Ok off to see your blog now. rsmiley

That's a pretty cool idea and has got me thinking. I'm a bit pants at video editing, but image montages are all over youtube aren't they?!

Yup, they are - and there's heaps of royalty free music, royalty free pics you can use with any kind of basic video editing software and the whole thing can be done on your PC - no need for any 'real' video of any kind other than photographic images of what it is you are promoting.

Here's an example my wife and I put together to promote a website we have - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw6CBtq-1ZI See there's no real 'content' in that other than teasing people to come have a look...it really does work rsmiley

Good! Just make sure you give it good tags - as that's how most folks seem to track down what they are after these days...

Ok I'm off to read your blog properly now.

I could have sworn I said welcome, but apparently not! It just clicked that I went to your blog and ended up completely distracted by the Creature Comforts giveaway!

So sorry for the lateness, but welcome Natalie rsmiley
