That's one thing I'm finding VERY frustrating about Plurk.  It doesn't seem to be easy to search for people and find them.   xundecided

I have found a fair few people now  - found most by using the feature that checked which of my twitter contacts were plurking.
Here I am - http://www.plurk.com/user/Sueblimely If you check who I am a fan/friend of and then look at the friends and fans of theirs you will come across people you know.  xsmiley

Thanks Sue.  I didn't realise it could do that - check Twitter friends.

Plurk annoys me because it's time-intensive... I get twitter through a desktop app that sits in my sidebar so I can see it out of the corner of my eye, should I want to glance over and check up on things, or on my phone if I'm out and I have a spare minute (queues, waiting rooms etc etc). With Plurk at the moment I'd have to go to the web site, and then click on people's messages to see the replies to them, so it doesn't integrate into my existing workflow, it demands visits. Too much of a time sap for me, I think, unless they get an API going.

Lani, it is definitely a time-waster - for me, joining two days ago, on a long weekend when all I wanted to do was nothing after the week from hell at work, it was a godsend.

Tomorrow may be another story - as I said to Gary in reply to his comment on Plurk: Delivering on the promise of Twitter, the lack of an API interface may kill it for me in the rushed madness of daily working life.

For now, I am content to be a plurker. Tomorrow, it may be different rsmiley

Cheers, Andrew

I just discovered you can post content to Plurk via Profilactic  which is ok if you just want to add an update but not if you want to reply to people.

If you are wondering what the h..l plurk is and how you see messages, then you are probably using Firefox. I can only see messages in IE.

I have poked at Plurk and have absolutely no interest in joining. Surprising, considering I'm a Twitter addict, having posted over 12,000 updates (I've changed accounts since my first 11,000 tweets)  xgrin

... and "plurk" sounds like something I'd do after several hours (and bleers, then the crazy stuff that follows when you're sick of bleers) at the plub.  xlaugh

I too now Plurk (jenseeya is my name there - same as twitter). I'm using ping.fm to tell both services what I'm up to.

Can I start by saying... although I do have a Plurk account I don't really use it very often because in my eyes Plurk is like Twitter, but on drugs. It is so demanding. I like that I can just pop in to Twitter and read bits and pieces when its convenient. Plurk on the other hand has flashing reminders constantly.. "There are 115 new alerts." And I usually just mark as read and move on. I log on maybe once or twice a month at most. lol

But if anyone still cares enough to add me... lol

I've looked at it. It looks pretty. But then to learn another networking system......

It'll wait!

I'm on plurk... okay it's a different type of community I have found.  It can be a little less serious than twitter.    Doesn't take any more work than twitter, you just drop in like twitter, have your say, check a few old conversations and that is it.   That said it is better for conversations and network building than twitter is becoming.

I didn't think anything could be less serious than twitter! Although having a conversation is easier with 2 tin cans a piece of string than twitter. Interested in how it is better for network building? I guess this is due to it being easier to hold a conversation?

Plurk does foster conversation, which is why I don't have time for it - twitter is throwaway, if I miss 500 tweets I miss them, no big deal. With Plurk I have to go back to the site and log in all the time. If I want to have a conversation with someone I'll go to IM or email.

Maybe if there was a desktop client like Twhirl that integrated Twitter and Plurk I might use it...
