I have 9 text widgets available on my W/press blog. This seems to be the maximum. Note I said "seems to be".
Does anyone know of a way to increase that number?

I just looked on Wordpress and its says you can have up to 9

So unless someone knows a way around it then looks like you are stuck with 9

Actually, you can have more than 9 text widgets without the use of plugins; all you need to do is edit your widgets.php file (making sure you back it up, natch) using the instructions you can find here.

I've done it on my blog; if you want I can send you the widgets.php file I use (for version 2.3.3)

Now that sounds like a good idea! I'll have a look. If I have any problems, I'll post them here...

I have the version before 2.3.3...will the file be any use for an earlier version Sephy?

Yup, it should; /wp-includes/widgets.php wasn't among the files that were changed from 2.3.2 to 2.3.3, so it should work out fine

Could you possibly send me the file please? I'm struggling here. And let me say if worse comes to worst I'll simply throw myself on Kelly's mercy and ask her to go and do it for me!

I now have 15 text widgets thanks to Sephy. I've already told him he's a star

Well, he might even be able to upgrade WP to 2.3.3 for you. cos he is legendary with technical stuffs.

I actually asked him that, then took it back. I don't want to impose on anyone you know? I need to stand on my own 2 feet sooner or later.
It was the backing up I had the problem with before I even started. I could not, for the life of me, work out how to do it! 5 hours later I was just about out of my brain.
I haven't tried again because last time I nearly deleted the blog out of sheer temper and frustration! I have no problem saving parts I want to change just in case something goes wrong, but not the whole blog!
