Never heard of her, or her blog. While  am a JJJ listener when I do listen to radio, I wouldn't jump over Meg's blog, Kelley's, Karen's, Snos's, Lightening's or anyone else's here to get to hers

Popularity is no guarantee of quality. Or, in this case, value.

Morning show, I know, the one that doesn't say much and the guys walk all over her. Never knew her blog existed though. Weird that a bunch of Americans should think she has a fine blog - it seems, I don't know, a little intrusive. She's never left a comment on one of my blogs, so she doesn't really exist as far as I can tell. No kudos here.

The result was a little surprising. Reason you will hate me isn't a bad blog, but I think a few of the others are much better, just with less of a fan base.

But so were the winners in a few other categories. Dooce, while she is a fab blogger too, her fan base makes it hard for the other, IMO, better blogs to get a look in.

I was actually being a little rude... "I would'nt jump over her to get to you, mate" is something that sailors say to one another when being disparaging - what can I say, in my misbegotten youth, I was corrupted by ex-sailors

It was my way of saying "Your blog is way better than hers"

I once read that blog, but the long Friday questions which seemed to be an exercise in ego eventually annoyed me to the point that I unsubbed.

Note to all - don't ever write posts over 5,000 words on a semi-regular basis. Your readers will hate it. The blog should be renamed - reasons you will hate subscribing to my blog..  :rsmiley:

This is the problem with voting.  Eg the debacle of the Logies each year (or, come to think of it, the academy awards).

As has been said: popularity doesn't guarantee value - Happy Birthday is not the world's best song.

I really don't like the way the site looks to be honest - I could only bring myself to skim over the content and it certainly didn't appeal to me but I had problems working out where one post stopped and the next one started.

So I'm surprised by the site winning but more annoyed that last year's winner didn't make the home page of News.com.au

Why didn't you mention me first Andrew?  Everyone knows I am your favourite. 

I had never heard of that blog either, but that is no surprise,  , I just gave it a quick skim.  I think once blogs get a bigger fan base (and she would have gained most of them from being 'famous') they can post their shopping list and people will fall over themselves to comment.  I prefer content over fame.  But having said that you can all vote for me in the Bloggers Choice awards anyway

I wrote about how being famous was a niche in and of itself in When you are famous, you are the niche. In Marieke's case, I think it is fairly safe to say that she wouldn't have nearly so many readers if she had to rely purely on her writing skills (or her pigtails).
