The Other Half saw the ad for it and did an eye roll, so I suggest it will be excellent.

We hate each others shows. 

But alas I do not have Channel 9. Nor 10 or 7. I only have 2, cos I get Austar pay tv here. And how did I see the ad for it? Somewhat surprisingly, Nein have been advertising on the pay tv channels lately.

Ohhh don't you get the others with Austar. That was our main motivation with going with Foxtel in the first place. We are on the side of a great big hill and the TV signal bounces off the hill and our reception was awful, even with the biggest aerial known to man.

Now we have no aerial and a picture we can watch. Got to be happy with that.

And I noticed the ads on the other chanels tonight for 9. Thought I was seeing things LOL

And if my husband rolled his eyes at something that is a sure fire guarantee that I would love it too.

I tried to tell myself this was not supposed to be a "S*x in the City" clone, but given it was about four "thirty something" (I'm assuming) career types, hard not to make the comparison.

Jury's out. An hour of escapism - very quick moving plot, and I would generally like that - except you don't want to get interrupted or you miss a fair bit. Not overly funny, but a couple of laughs - don't know I'd deem it a "comedy".

I suppose it takes a while to "warm up to" the characters. Essentially about four "successful" business women (old friends from business school) and their personal lives, their friendship yada yada....

Okay, I had no idea what you were talking about when the thread started but now I think I'll join Snosk's other half in the rolling eyes.  I always hated Skanks in the City.

I seem to have missed this. I obviously don't read my tv guide well enough. I have started watching Desperate Housewives and the new one - Dirty Sexy Money which I really like, apart from that tan on Donald Sutherland.

I thought from the ad that it would be a SITC meets DH (desperate housewifes) type show.

I watched it and by the end I loathed every single main character.  There was nothing appealing about their characters - they are all self-absorbed, egotistical bitches. Maybe that is the point of the show, but when I can't find anything I like about any of the characters and I actually laugh when bad things happen to them, it tells me that perhaps I am not their target audience.

That's what I thought about SITC.  Maybe narcissistic, instead of egotistical but loathsome (to me) nonetheless.

I missed it.  Might have to 'find it somehow loaded onto my computer by whatever means'.

I actually wanted to watch it.  Especially if it was like that 'other' show.  Didn't care for the fashion.... but the shoes, oh the shoes!!!!

Yes.  I will concede that the shoes on "the other show" almost made it worth watching.  Except, suddenly everyone else knew who Manolo Blahnik was and that kind of took the shine off for me.  Cos I'm a snob.

Actually Riayn that might be the entire point of the show. Desperate Housewives is supposed to be like that - it is a black comedy. A lot of people didn't know that when the show first started, and there are some who may never spot it - I know it finally dawned some people I know in that episode where Bree was having a dinner party and George was outside singing karaoke to her, and she went off and got her shotgun.. They think it is supposed to be some sort of drama/soap opera.

Thank heavens someone told me - that is why I started watching it, and I've loved every minute of it. My mother has never watched an episode because she thinks it is supposed to be a serious drama. I told her, but she still refuses to try it. 

Maybe you're not supposed to like these people.

I loved Desperate Housewives but, as is with all series, the first season was the best.

The first season of Desperate Housewives was great but I gave up halfway through season 2.  The "joke" just sort of got old.

Cashmere Mafia is crap with a capital "C". I watched it last night after "Underbelly" but couldn't make head nor tail of it. Mind you, I'd had a few stubbies...

I saw it and thought it was OK, but as the wife said I will watch anything which is really BS as I hate reality shows and dancing with the stars and crap like that.

This seems like a good enough thread to have a moan about our Foxtel IQ.... just before we went overseas for three weeks at the end of January, I called up Foxtel to activate the remote access through the internet because stupid channel 9 don't have the series link sorted where you tape something once and it links and tapes every other episode. Jeez, how frustrating is technology when it almost works? Apparently because we get foxtel through optus I can't access my harddrive from the internet!!

So I had to bribe my father-in-law to drive over to the house every week and manually enter the things we wanted taped into the IQ. FIL is not so clued up to technology, he still can't send text messages from his (my old!) mobile.

The worst part, the fact that I have been whingeing since we got back about missing the last epsiode of ER and Moonlight, which I thought I would hate, but ended up liking after all. Stupid technology!

I use Foxtel with Foxtel and have not been able to get remote access to work but as I have not been away more than a couple of days I have not really needed it. Not sure about the free to air channels but you sometimes  have to add more than one series link to a show to catch them all.

Since having the IQ I rarely watch free to air as there are so many other shows I want to catch up with and I like choosing when I watch.

The problem is that the little green series link button just doesn't appear for shows on my planner on Channel 9. Yup, annoying!

I have to confess I am a little obsessed with my foxtel IQ, I get preoccupied with ensuring I record the shows I watch regularily. Don't even get me started on Channel 7.... I have to manually set to record anything on there and then always forget what it was I was recording.

And shows running over their time slot? Yes, Channel 9 -  I am looking at YOU.

(I think the furniture polish from my manic cleaning session this morning has gone to my brain, I am slightly manic today!)

I just watched the first 12 eps of Moonlight in the last few days.  I was surprised that I liked it too.  But I'm looking forward to seeing more (have to wait until April now.  )  The guy in it, Alex O'Loughlin, is an Aussie.

Yup, he's lovely! I thought the pilot was excellent, I read somewhere that they axed the initial pilot and replaced all the characters except Alex's. He has a quiet resonance that really, err, does it for me!

This is my problem, I can't get channel 7 through foxtel because I have it through Optus. Every time I call up I speak to some numpty who can't help me, its doing my head in.
