Beaches
I didn’t realise how lucky we are in Australia with our beaches until I travelled overseas. My first time on a beach overseas was in Florida and I had to push some pebbles out the way to try and find some sand. English beaches are also quite pebbly. Of course, we don’t have all the great beaches in the world, but we have a lot of them and I’d hate it if I didn’t live near the sea.
My dog loves the beach as well and I try to take her whenever I go. The photo above and below are both at West Beach in Adelaide.
The beach below (Vivonne Bay on Kangaroo Island) is my favourite because it’s so long and fairly isolated, this bit of it anyway. The water is a bit cool to swim in all year round because it’s on the southern side of Kangaroo Island, but when you’ve got these views who cares?
Another, more local, favourite of mine is Port Willunga and it helps that a good friend lives within walking distance. I had my first swim for the season there just recently and while it was a bit chilly for my liking it’s still totally worth getting in.
Where’s your favourite beach?

I like Normanville and West Beach is nice. I also like many of the beaches in the Philippines. If you like cold weather there are many nice ones in Scotland.
I was fortunate to have spent my childhood frollicking at Dee Why Beach (northern beaches) Sydney, NSW. We lived just around the corner from the beach – a two minute walk away from swimming, sunbaking, rockclimbing, the swings that went high in the sky, the milk bar for chewy, lollies and ice-creams. There is no place on earth like the beach and what it does for the senses and one’s soul. I am glad we have mostly sandy and not pebbly beaches here in Australia. The sand is like a large comfy bed to run and jump over, lie and gaze at the sky or eyes closed, listening to the ocean.
I love the long, sandy beaches in Labuan, Sabah, Malaysia. Actually Sabah has several Islands with breathtaking views and crystal clear water. I do love your pic of the Vivonne Bay, looks fantastic. Perhaps someday I’ll give it a visit as well.
I found some pretty beaches in Acapulco! Some that make you want to become a permanent tourist. – Gilbert C
I am fond of lovers beach in the sea of cortez
Oh I so know what you mean… I absolutely love living near the beach. Its a couple of block walk from our house, and we can hear the waves crash at night. It’s so calming and beautiful. Thankfully we have the best of both worlds and get to go bushwalking and have some great bush spots around here too but its always nice to return back to the sandy, blue paradise of the coast
