Little Athletics – Run Like the Wind
With the Beijing Olympics over, Hannah’s friend suggested that she try Little Athletics near our home. I had no idea whether she would like it, but she does. Not only that, but she is good at it. It is a very healthy and well run activity for kids and I am glad that we encouraged her to have a go. She has done well in all her races and is learning some of those difficult ones like discus and triple jump. Very tricky.
It is such a positive experience for her. The parent volunteers and coaches are very supportive and helpful. My memories of athletics were not until High School on wet and windy afternoons, with taskmaster coaches. I liked the high jump, the most psychologically challenging of them all and not very appealling to many kids. Even young kids have many challenges visualising going over the bar. I never really liked the running part, but that is the part that Hannah is good at.
Olympics 2020 here we come.
