Absolutely right! Oh, it's a long time ago now that I raised my two boys with Playschool and Sesame Street, and couldn't do morning coffee with other mums for the same reason as you (my youngest is 38 now) ... but you might have been speaking for me, the experience was so like. I've often thought what a difference it would have made in those days if we'd had blogging then. And also for my elderly Mum before she died, living alone and far from relatives, and somewhat agoraphobic. She wouldn't have had to use TV as her gateway to the outside world. She could have been in daily, intimate contact with real people instead of fictional characters.

For myself, I'm far from trapped or isolated - but it does sometimes feel as if I have this secret life. It's not all that secret, the internet being such a public place, but in some quarters it might as well be. Non-bloggers just don't get it! I have tried talking about it, but even my most intelligent non-blogging friends glaze over and say things like, 'Well that's all over my head of course.' They don't know what they're missing. The delight of this post, for instance, which had me giggling out loud over my morning coffee. Thank you!

What a great post. That's exactly what it's like for me, anyway. My blog is mostly anonymous and I admit I do like to think of ways to blog about really annoying people and situations, while knowing the people around me have NO IDEA what I'm really doing.

They probably think I'm just a little deaf.

Or something.

This is such a great post, I must admit that I think blogging is the greatest thing. I am still excited by it, after doing it for a few years.

Great post Frogdancer! I found it by accident...and half-way through, without looking at who had posted it, thought to myself, "This sounds like Frogdancer..."!

Most of my friends don't understand my blog reading . They think it's creepy, a bit like window peeping. I like the thought that I have "friends" everywhere.

I love this post, Frogdancer. Warmed my cockles, as does this creepy world of blogging in general, as you say. Well said.

Most of my real life friends who don't get the whole blog thing think it's creepy. But the blogosphere can be such a warm and supporting place that I can't imagine my life without it!
